I have literally dozens of Green Milkweed plants this year - the Asclepias viridis that the NPSOT people have been insisting are the variety preferred by Monarchs - and there has been some grazing going on. However, if it has been caterpillars munching, I've yet to see one; it could easily be grasshopper damage. I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm tolerating the plants' terrible smell for nothing.

Loved your Surrey photos - whoever would have thought there was that much room in Surrey? Those views reminded me of idyllic trips to Box Hill when I was growing up in London.Carol in Magnolianoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3822343629005349934.post-77272799697418041532012-06-24T17:35:27.321-05:002012-06-24T17:35:27.321-05:00Wow! I continue to have the butterflies through my yard but don't have any caterpillars - that I have noticed - just now. It's just so nice to see good numbers of these beauties in our gardens this year after the miserable time they had last year.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3822343629005349934.post-20719895830004773202012-06-23T17:23:02.664-05:002012-06-23T17:23:02.664-05:00How wonderful! You've done a great job in encouraging them by growing the Milkweed. Fingers crossed they all do. I hope that Mother bird is doing a great job of looking after her young.BernieHhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04435004798656616711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3822343629005349934.post-27646265834092762052012-06-23T13:27:33.065-05:002012-06-23T13:27:33.065-05:00I'm glad your milkweed is starting to do bette...I'm glad your milkweed is starting to do better now Steph.
