Winged Wonders III

While I have some uncertainties going on in my life right now, I've been rather distracted and haven't blogged in a bit.

But one thing that has brightened my days recently is the fact that our garden is full of hummingbirds.  I've posted about them twice already this season, but I'm just so amazed at how many we have this year.

Here's a minute and a half of video I took of them earlier today, on the patio.

I hope to get back to my regular posting schedule next week.

My feeders are swarmmed today! Never have I ever had so many. We have been in awe all day. Carol

Dear Jayne, Wow! I have never seen so many. I get hummingbirds, but usually just one at a time. Wonderful video. P.x

There are seven or eight of them Pam. I only ever used to get at a time too. And that one would always chase the others away. I think the need to fill up before setting off on their migration is outweighing the aggressive tendencies. I've had five and more on the feeder at one time.

Got a video from a friend in Alabama and hers are the same way! They must all be on their way to Mexico at one time. I'm going to try to get pix tomorrow if I have as many! Amazing--Carol

I must say your hummers are a lot more tolerant of their fellows than mine. The ones in my yard will not share space at the feeders. They spend so much time chasing each other and defending their feeding territories that one wonders how they ever have time to actually eat. There has been a wave of the migrants through this week and it is a great time to watch all the activity.

Mine usually chase each other away too Birdwoman. I've never seen a group of them on the feeder like this before.

Helo Jayne, fascinating snippet of video... you wouldn't find any of those on the bird feeder back here in England!
Whatever uncertainties you are dealing with at the moment, I hope they are resolved happily and you can return to normality very soon. Take care.

Hi Jayne,
I hope things are going better for you. I enjoyed your video. Wow, those beaks are long!

I don't have feeders, but, for the last couple of weeks, have seen at least 2 different hummingbirds, one at a time on my agastaches, black and blue salvias, and some other blooms. In the past, I would only see one a time or two during a growing season.
