It occurred to me that the color theme for the front garden is definitely... HOT... HOT... HOT!!

EDIT: After I had originally posted this, I had gone in to my husband's den which is at the front of the house. I happened to look out the window and catch sight of something on the daylilies. I grabbed my camera and rushed outside, hoping I'd be lucky enough to get some photos of what I had just seen through the window.
I was!!
A Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly! It really seemed to like the daylilies, sampling first one, then another, before taking a momentary rest on a shrub.
And to think, if I hadn't happened to look outside at the precise moment I did, I would have missed this beauty!

Well, the daylilies are gorgeous--and just for fun, let me tell you that my daylilies are still weeks from blooming, like mid-July--but that swallowtail butterfly is simply glorious. How lucky for you and for us that you went to look outside when you did!
Thanks Jodi. Yes sometimes I forget that the Gulf Coast is often weeks or even months ahead than northerly areas when it comes to weather and bloom times. I, too, am so glad I happened to glance outside and see the butterfly.
I love it when butterflies 'dive' in the daylilies.
The first one with a butterfly looks like "Strawberry Candy" -- reading backwards, I see that readers are asking names. Some are easier to identify than others.
It isn't hard to see why some gardeners cannot resist daylilies. Yours are gorgeous colors and they attracted a special visitor to your garden. How nice of him to sit still for you.
Daylillies...glad we can see yours. They're candy to deer so I only have 2 and they're behind 4 feet of rosemary.
LOVED the photo of the swallowtail deep in the daylily flower. That's an award-winner.
I will still be ages before I have a single daylilly but I've just bought some new ones that look like the colour in your first photo. How wonderful to capture that scene later - I would be delighted to have a beauty like that visit my garden.......... in my dreams!
