Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - August 15th 2010

I haven't participated in Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day, hosted on the 15th of each month by Carol, of May Dreams Gardens, (mainly because I forget)  in a couple of months, but this month I remembered!

Here's my offering for August.

As always, the Rose of Sharon is the star of the show. This one is covered in blooms, which are loved by the bees.

Here's a close up of the Cockscomb that appeared in my last blog post.  I love these blooms, the color is so vibrant and the texture is unique.

This new Hamelia patens will hopefully provide some interest for the hummingbirds that come to my hummingbird feeder.

And finally, this little Rudbeckia is another fairly recent addition. I love its sunny blooms.

Jayne: Just love that rose of sharon! The pure white with the red center made such nice contrast, and be sure stand out in the garden! I also planted Rudbeckia a couple of months ago. I loved their cheerful color. unfortunately they are declining without the reason, I don't know how to fix them. Your Hamelia patens we call it here as "firebush". They are blooming so prolifically in this summer heat right now.

All your plants are so beautiful. Rose of Sharon shrubs are an amazing site this time of the year.

Sorry to hear about your Rudbeckia, Ami. Mine didn't do well for a few weeks after I planted it, but I kept it watered and now it seems to be taking off. My Hamelia patens isn't blooming much right now. I'll probably plant it in the ground eventually. Containers in my garden seem doomed to neglect!
